He began his 30 year career in business as an accountant with Ernst and Young, a "Big 4" firm. While at Ernst and Young, he supervised the annual audits of one of the five largest residential mortgage servicers in the country. At the same time, he also earned an MBA with an emphasis in finance from Old Dominion University where he later taught undergraduate accounting. Tom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Tom subsequently worked in the areas of real estate finance and development, business operations, management, and sales. As an entrepreneur, Tom owned and operated a number of businesses, including a privately held commercial mortgage brokerage firm.

 

Tom and his wife Sharon live in Alpharetta, Georgia, where they happily raised their twin daughters one of whom is a guidance counselor in South Carolina and the other is working on her PhD. in Optimization at MIT. Tom now enjoys cooking and traveling with Sharon.
